Sherlock Jr., one of the most extraordinary silent films ever made, returns to the Palazzetto Bru Zane in a new tribute to Buster Keaton. The screen here becomes both threshold and mirror. Keaton, in the guise of a young projectionist dreaming of becoming a detective, does not just watch a film, but literally goes into it, dissolving the confines between reality and fiction. Cinema tells its own story, revealing its tricks with irony and brilliance in a whirl of stunts whose technical and poetic audacity are still astonishing. The screening will be accompanied by an evocative piano recital taken from the French Romantic repertoire to highlight and bring to life the thrills and surprises of this labyrinthine journey through moving images.
