After the recording of Déjanire, given in concert in 2022, the collaboration between the Orchestre Philharmonique de Monte-Carlo and the Palazzetto Bru Zane continues with L’Ancêtre, a work dedicated to Prince Albert I, who was a great friend of Camille Saint-Saëns. Set against a backdrop of tragic deaths, thirst for revenge and passionate love, this drame lyrique features seven main characters, three of whom govern the plot. Augé de Lassus’s dark, dramatic libretto is balanced by musical numbers suffused with gentleness and tenderness.
