Three great operatic rediscoveries mark the season 2024-25: L’Ancêtre by Camille Saint-Saëns (1906) in Monaco; Mazeppa by Clémence de Grandval (1892) in Munich; and Psyché by Ambroise Thomas (1857-1878) in Budapest and Vienna. Performed in concert and recorded on CD, these rarities will perhaps have the same fortune as the gems unearthed in previous years, which, after winning over their first audiences, are now returning in staged versions to European theatres. Phèdre by Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne (Bru Zane Label, 2020) is being performed in Karlsruhe; Faust by Charles Gounod (Bru Zane Label, 2019) at the Opéra de Lille and the Opéra-Comique in Paris; Fausto (Bru Zane Label, 2024) in Essen; Le Voyage dans la Lune (Bru Zane Label, 2022) in Montpellier; Ô mon bel inconnu (Bru Zane Label, 2021) at the Théâtre de l’Athénée in Paris; and La Fille de Madame Angot (Bru Zane Label, 2021) at the Opéra de Nice and Opéra Grand Avignon. Other concerts and shows created in previous seasons continue to tour, including Jacques Offenbach’s Le 66!, and Sophie Gail’s La Sérénade and Nuits.
