8th Festival Palazzetto Bru Zane Paris
CANCELLED

2 - 25 June 2020

This year, the Centre de Musique Romantique Française is keen to present an equal mix of opera events and chamber music concerts for a well-balanced 8th Palazzetto Bru Zane Festival in Paris. To mark the renewed collaboration with the Athénée Théâtre Louis-Jouvet, the festival will open with Nicolas Isouard’s Cendrillon, staging 5 performances from 2 to 7 June 2020 performed by Julien Chauvin and the Concert de la Loge. The comic roles and underlying irony of this opéra-comique will present the unforgettable plot of this fairytale in an entirely new light. From 15 June, the festival will take up residence in the Louvre Auditorium with five events. Summer Night, a concert with Véronique Gens and the piano quintet, I Giardini, will christen the recent partnership with this institution. The following four concerts will give audiences a chance to enjoy piano quintets by Saint-Saëns, Franck and Hahn performed by both the Arod Quartet with David Kadouch, and the Tchalik Quartet with Dania Tchalik on piano. Anne Gastinel and Claire Désert will turn the spotlight on women composers before the Doric String Quartet, with Alina Ibragimova on violin and Cédric Tiberghien on piano, will close this part of the festival with a programme of Lekeu, Debussy and Chausson. The final opera event of  the festival, Ambroise Thomas’s three-act opéra-comique, Psyché, will be performed in a concert version on 25 June 2020 at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées by the Paris Chamber Orchestra and the Flemish Radio Choir conducted by Pierre Bleuze.
