This opéra-comique depicts amorous adventures coloured with numerous details intended to make it more historically accurate. The title refers to an archetypical fictional character from the closing decades of the eighteenth century: the fishwife, Madame Angot. The work was a huge success, and remained on the bill at the Folies-Dramatiques for over four hundred performances. La Fille de Madame Angot is performed in its original (Brussels) orchestration.
It was recorded for the Bru Zane Label in 2021.
