Louise Bertin composed this opera for the Théâtre-Italien in Paris a few months after Berlioz wrote his Huit Scènes de Faust. The work went almost unnoticed at the time of its premiere, despite receiving very favourable reviews, and it was never revived. It deserves a second chance, and after a premiere early in 2024, it is now performed in Essen. It can also be discovered on CD (2024, Bru Zane Label).
