Louise Bertin composed this opera for the Th√©√Ętre-Italien in Paris a few months after Berlioz wrote his Huit Sc√®nes de Faust. The work went almost unnoticed at the time of its premiere, despite receiving very favourable reviews, and it was never revived. It deserves a second chance, and after a premiere early in 2024, it is now performed in Essen. It can also be discovered on CD (2024, Bru Zane Label).
