Presented last season at the ThĂ©Ăątre des Champs-ĂlysĂ©es, this opera was composed for the ThĂ©Ăątre-Italien in Paris by Louise Bertin a few months after Berliozâs Huit ScĂšnes de Faust. Almost unnoticed at the time of its premiere (despite very favourable reviews) and never revived, the work richly deserves its second chance today.
