Thanks to the work’s dedicatee, the brilliant oboist Georges Gillet, who regularly included it in his concerts, Clémence de Grandval’s Oboe Concerto (1877) enjoyed a long and successful career. Twenty years later, a version with piano accompaniment was adopted as an examination piece at the Paris Conservatoire.
