Presented at the Festival des Arcs, Piano aux Jacobins, then in Venice in the spring, this concert brings together Louise Farrenc – and her Air russe varié, praised by Robert Schumann – and another woman composer, Louise Guilmant (sister of the composer Alexandre Guilmant), whose waltz, La Gazelle, Célia Oneto Bensaid will be performing in Toulouse. This programme, interspersed with nocturnes by Chopin, will alternate virtuoso pieces with ones of a more intimate and lyrical nature.
The concert on 18 July will be preceded by a lecture in French by Étienne Jardin: La Paris musical au temps de Berlioz
