“Mme Augusta Holmès, unlike the women who preceded her, not only composed the music for La Montagne Noire, but also wrote the libretto. Furthermore, she sets an example that is all the more remarkable since the work about to be presented at the Opéra is undoubtedly the most noteworthy that a woman author has ever had performed on stage.
