Murmurs of the forest

While the title of this concert might spontaneously call to mind Richard Wagner’s Siegfried, it in fact refers to a very French gem of a work: Rita Strohl’s Symphonie de la forêt, tinged with the pantheism of this astonishing composer whose works deserve to find their way back into the concert hall. A rare, bucolic programme complemented by her song with orchestral accompaniment, Les Cygnes, and Antonín Dvořák’s famous Cello Concerto.
