German Record Critics' Awards
16/08/2022

The recording of Offenbach's Le Voyage dans la Lune has received a new award from the German Record Critics.
'This recording once again refutes the preconception that Jacques Offenbach’s music lost its originality after the end of the second French Empire, the Belle Époque. 'Le Voyage dans la Lune' (1875), based on the novel by Jules Verne, fascinates in particular in the mixture of Bouffonnerie and FĂ©erie. The conductor Pierre Dumoussaud and the Orchestre national Montpellier Occitanie powerfully work out the different musical spheres between Cancan and fantastic opera in a dry tone. The choir and soloists are committed, yes, champagne – on a homogeneous level.'

Passionnément is part of the Gramophone Critics' Choice 2021
'AndrĂ© Messager's bittersweet 1926 comedy about Prohibition Era Americans losing their inhibitions on a trip to France gets a lovely recording from Bru Zane, beautifully conducted, with VĂ©ronique Gens and Étienne Dupuis marvellous as the couple whose casual affair deepens into genuine love. The work itself was new to me, and I fell in love at first hearing. A real treat.'
