Venice and chamber music

Lecture in Italian.

The palaces in Venice were not only noble residences but also centers of cultural, theatrical, and musical activities. They were ideal stages where music resonated in rooms with high ceilings decorated with frescoes and stucco, and with a natural acoustics that amplified the beauty and mastery of the performances. The letters of composers and the diaries of famous foreign travelers, as well as the archives of the Querini Stampalia family, testify to how the passion for music and theater followed the fashions and tastes of the time, sometimes offering a curious glimpse into complex family relationships. The musical and cultural legacy left by the Serenissima continues to inspire and fascinate today's visitors, demonstrating its importance in the European artistic and cultural landscape.

Recorded at the Palazzetto Bru Zane on 10 October 2024.
