The world of César Franck (1822-90)

The chamber music of César Franck: 1850-1918

Symposium
A double anniversary serves as the guiding thread for this international colloquium: the bicentenary of the birth of César Franck and the 180th anniversary of Antonín Dvořák’s. Focusing on these two figures, it will study the world of European chamber music of the second half of the nineteenth century, from the conception of the works – within the relevant stylistic or national schools – to their reception, by way of modes of dissemination and performers.
