Women Composers

The field of possibilities

Concert
The piano was the instrument par excellence of the Parisian music salon, and also the instrument of choice for every young lady’s musical education. Thus, while serving as a symbol of “submission”, it also provided an opportunity for emancipation: she could pursue a career as a virtuoso soloist, achieve social advancement, or simply use it as a means of self-expression. This programme was first presented in March 2022 at the Palazzetto Bru Zane in Venice. It was recorded on that occasion and is to be included in a box set devoted to women composers (Bru Zane Label, 2023).
