César Franck made his entry into the musical world of his time with the publication in 1843 of his Three Trios op. 1. These pieces were for him the opportunity to demonstrate the extent of his craftsmanship, as well as his ability to structure and treat their harmony in a variety of ways. Under the joint tutelage of Beethoven and Schubert, these pieces, which mainly showcase the pianist, appealed in particular to Franz Liszt, who ensured their circulation in Germany.
